Easter Ideas

Every year Easter comes at a sprint and I’m caught between creating fun family memories of finding Easter eggs in the back yard and trying to incorporate the true meaning of Easter for my kids. As Easter dawns, my heart flows over in gratitude and joy because I know what happened that Sunday morning and I don’t want it to get lost in translation of bunnies, chocolate, and candy.

If you’re having the same thoughts, here are 15 ideas where you can keep the true meaning of Easter through out the day. For example, if you decide to try potato stamping, incorporate one scripture to write out on the bottom of the page. 

1. Potato Stamping by Sassydealz.
You’ll need a knife, paint, and a piece of paper. Simply cut out a design, have your child dip and stamp.

2. Handstamp to celebrate Easter by Prayer Glow. If your little one’s hands are growing too quickly, this one is perfect to capture the moments. 

3. Easter Egg Glow Hunt by Chicfluff. This one is pure fun and I can’t wait to do it with my kids this Easter. After we read the resurrection story, it will be time to hunt. It might even be warm enough to hide a few outside. Simple take glow sticks and coil them up inside the eggs. If you have small ones, cut the sticks but make sure the kids cannot open the eggs. 

5. Paper painted cross craft. No website, just a Pinterest pin but this one is fairly straight forward and I’ll be trying with my five year old. 

6. Toilet Paper Roll Bunnies. How simple is this? Save toilet paper rolls, grab a sharpie, paint, stapler, add a few eyes and there you go! 

7. The Jelly Bean Prayer — a perfect way to incorporate sweetness as we celebrate Easter! By Designing & Motherhood. 

 

Red is for the blood he gave,

Green is for the grass he made.

Yellow is for the sun so bright,

Orange is for the edge of the night.

Black is for the sins we made,

White is for the grace he gave.

Purple is for his hour of sorrow,

Pink is for our new tomorrow.

An egg full of jelly beans, colorful and sweet, is a prayer, is a promise, is a special treat.

11. Rolling the Stone Away Paper Plate. By Free Fun Easter. 

The site had errors, so here are in the instructions: 

Supplies

• Thick Paper Plate
• Gray Cardstock
• Standard and Jumbo Craft Sticks
• Gray Paint
• Printed Figures
• PDF of Angel

Instructions

1. Paint the back and front of the paper plate gray. Allow time to dry.
2. While the paper plate is drying. Print, cut out, and color the angel and Jesus.
3. Once the paper plate is dry, cut in half and cut out an opening on one paper plate half. Glue the paper plate halves together as shown.
4. Glue the paper Jesus and angel onto the paper plate tomb.
5. Glue the craft sticks into cross shapes and glue to the tomb as shown.
6. Lightly spray the gray cardstock with water on both sides and form into a rock shape. The water makes it easier to crinkle and will hold its form better. Allow time for your craft to dry.
