I remember laying awake at night, penning names for the child within. She was my third and I wanted a name that would inspire, encourage, and create courage!
I wanted her chosen name to remind her that with God, she could conquer anything. I wanted her to know the story behind her name. That baby is now 11. Victoria is reminded on a daily basis she can conquer challenges and no matter the battle, she will come out victorious with her God. Do you know the story behind your name? Do you know what your name means?
Names in the Bible carried mighty significance. When God gave someone a name, it defined who they were, who they would become, or what they would do. One man in particular was given the name of Israel as a reminder for an entire nation who they belonged to. When it comes to the names of God, the meanings of His name carry extraordinary significance to us. He wants us to know Him intimately through each of His names. Our Shepherd who knows us, loves us and has gone to great lengths to rescue and save us. Shouldn’t we know Him better than we do?
For example do you know God by the name of El Roi? El Roi, the God who sees, which comes from the story of Hagar in Genesis 16. After being hurt by her mistress, Hagar ran off into the desert. God saw Hagar crying. He saw her misery and had compassion on her and helped her. In response to God’s kindness, Hagar gives God the name El Roi: “She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me'” (v. 13 NIV).
I Call Him By Name
God is so amazing, so complex, so vast, and awesome, one name just can’t describe Him. In fact, one the best ways to know God’s true character and grow closer to Him is to know His names; not just God, Lord, Jesus, or Holy Spirit. So I have some big news. In order to help you deepen your relationship and get to know God on a truly deeper level, I wrote a 30 day Bible Study on the names of God.
This study will lead women on an exploration of the many names of our God—from Elohim to Abba, this study peels back the layers in the Bible to reveal how He was named, what it means and why He loves us in a world that says He doesn’t.
As we study the names of God, our ideas about Him will become more grounded as we soak in His presence and Word through using the journaling techniques to S.O.A.P. with specifically selected daily scripture.
I also pose questions in order to deeply connect and root each your identity in your Creator. Whether each woman who reads this study has walked with Jesus for years or she is fresh in following Christ, this Bible study will ground her in a deeper relationship and faith, as she discovers the different personal traits of our Triune God. She will truly know His heart for her, for this world, and His ultimate plan.
‘Created with beautiful photography and thought-provoking questions this unique study contains the following:

The more we study His names and their meanings, the more we trust Him. When we are lost, uncertain and afraid, we can call out to our Strong Tower, El Roi, Yaweh Jireh, our El Shaddai, know that He is all powerful, all mighty. We will come to know He provides, He protects, and He sees and knows us. Nothing can take away God’s love for us. Our eternal hope is firm and secure in Christ.
